Taking a Break & a sympathy card

Just wanted to let all of you know that the Heart2Heart Challenge blog is taking a break this week.  One of our team has had a very difficult time this past week, so we agreed that a break was necessary to give her time to be with her family.  I've made this sympathy card in support of her in such difficult times.
The April challenges are still open throughout this week, so feel free to participate in any of the previous challenges up until Saturday the 30th, when we will be choosing our Top Ten from all of this month's entries.  We'll see you next Monday with another challenge.  Oh - and thanks to all who participated in our Bunny Hop last week - our turnout was wonderful!  If you haven't had a chance to view all the artwork - head back to the H2H blog and check it all out.
Card details: Stamp set is Blessed (April SOTM); Inks are Desert Sand, Creme Brulee & Juniper; Cardstock is Kraft and White Daisy; Craft Color-Ready Borders.

Mint Chocolate Cupcakes

My daughter had another special order request for cupcakes a couple of weeks ago, and they were so amazing that I had to share :o)  In the past we've mostly just used a cake mix and decorated them, but lately we've been using Martha Stewart's cupcake recipes, and they are to die for.  Paige did these entirely by herself, making the mint chocolate cupcakes, then homemade buttercream frosting tinted an aqua blue, and finally she painted the back side of mint leaves with a layer of chocolate, put them in the fridge to harden, and when you pull off the mint leaf... voila!  Chocolate leaves.  Heaven.

I had the perfect papers to use for this week's Mojo Monday sketch... and when I had my card mostly assembled, I had the perfect Verve stamp to fit on the little circle!  It reads: "If you never did you should.  These things are fun, and fun is good" - makes for a fun bright card:

Patterned papers are Echo Park; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim, Ocean & White Daisy - CTMH; Stamp set is Verve; Ink is Pear; Button is Outdoor Denim, Crystal Blue waxy flax - all CTMH; Ribbon unknown.

Heart2Heart Bunny Hop!

Every month we have a feature called From Our Heart to Yours on the Heart2Heart Challenges blog, and this week we're sharing our Spring/Easter themed projects with a blog hop!  We would love to have all of you participate, by linking up your project between 8am & 8pm on Monday the 18th.  The link will only be open during those 12 hours, so if you don't get a chance to join in the hop - stop by again and follow all of the links to view the artwork.  *Remember that your item must include CTMH products!  The design team has come up with some wonderful projects to get it all started, and we have the very talented Shari Maclaskey joining us as our April Guest Designer.

Now for my project, I wanted to make some little Easter egg holders to display some of the eggs my family will colour this year.  I started with toilet paper rolls cut into various heights (hmm...could've done this project for last week's recycling theme!), covered them with patterned papers, and added all kinds of fun trims:

All supplies are CTMH - Patterned papers are Sweetheart, Wings, Miracle & Magnifique; Cardstock is Amethyst; Just Blooms paper flowers; Ricrac, Kraft Color-ready borders; Sweet Leaf grosgrain ribbon; Amethyst waxy flax; Pink collection button & pompom ribbon.

Toronto Regionals Contest Card

I'm pooped!  But I had a wonderful weekend with the Close To My Heart Corporate team who hosted a two-day Regional Celebration here this weekend.  We made all kinds of fabulous artwork which I'll post as I complete it all this week.  I thought I would share my contest card (which sadly was pulled, since I was not allowed to use patterned paper in the contest! - and about 1/2 of the entries had!) so I was a wee bit disappointed after staying up till midnight the night before completing the stitching on 12 of these (it was a swap, too).  However, I am excited to enter it into the Hot Air Balloon challenge over at Moxie Fab World!  Here's what I came up with:
I used a single strand of embroidery floss, to hand stitch the webbing over the balloon; masked some cloud shapes and sponged over it in blue ink for the sky, and cut up a little kraft color-ready border to form the basket.  Inside is stamped the word "Soar". I loved it even though it didn't make the contest!  Maybe I'll read the instructions better next time :o)

All supplies are CTMH - patterned papers are Sophia & Miracle; Cardstock is Kraft, Heavenly Blue & White Daisy; Kraft color-ready borders; Embroidery Floss; Ink is Desert Sand & Heavenly Blue; Opaque Pearls.

H2H Bunny Hop this Monday!

Just wanted to take a minute to post an 'ad' for the Heart2Heart Challenge Blog's Bunny Hop that we are hosting this coming Monday, April 18th:
Every other month we have a "From Our Heart to Yours" challenge, so this week we thought we would make it a blog hop.  Here are the details from the H2H blog:
Before Monday, April 18th, create something Easter or Spring themed. Post it to your blog. Then on Monday April 18th, add your link to our Mister Linky on the H2H blog.  (http://heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com/) You can ONLY post your link between 8:00 am EST and 8:00 pm EST on that Monday!! After 8:00 pm, the link list will be closed and no other entries will be added through the week. You also MUST include CLOSE TO MY HEART products or your link will be removed. Then through out the day, you can bunny hop among the links to see what everyone has created.

We would love to see a big turn-out for this hop so spread the word! There will also be one random blog hop participant chosen to win a prize so you want to play along!! Mary will post reminders through the week so get your creative thinking caps on! *If you'd like to help advertise the blog hop, we'd love to have you post the badge on your blog.  See you Monday

PS - I'm away at CTMH's Regional Celebration in Toronto this weekend, so I hope to post my contest item and some of the wonderful projects we're making in the next few days - stay tuned!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle at H2H!

This week, on the Heart2Heart Challenge blog, we want you to use something on a card or project that you have reused, or repurposed from something that was either sitting around the house, or heading for the garbage.  Now if you're a crafter... you know that someone has given you a gift bag, where you've thought "oh, I could use that ribbon on something..." and you've started to look at doilies in a whole new way.... and you aren't sure that you should throw away the phone book... right?  Well, we'd like you to show us what you can come up with by reaching "beyond your craft room" to create something fabulous!  (Edited to add:) I am also entering this into the Gift Wrap Challenge on Moxie Fab World.  Here's what I started with:
A small shopping bag, a ribbon from a gift, and I tore the white rope handles off of several shopping bags before I put them in the recycyling bin.  I wanted to create a gift bag for my Mother-in-law's Mother's Day gift, so I covered up the printing on the bag with the Sophia polka dot paper, and then coiled the ropes into little white flowers, using the ribbon as the stems:

All supplies are CTMH: Cardstock is Hollyhock, Sky, Pear; Patterned paper is Sophia; Hollyhock buttons; Stamp set is Simple Pleasures; Ink is Desert Sand;

April Showers bring May Flowers at Heart2Heart!

I love this as a challenge idea!  This week's Heart2Heart challenge lets you decide how to incorporate rain/showers/flowers any way you like... maybe a rainbow?  I love my card!  It looks deceptively simple - and was more time consuming and finicky than anything I've made in a long time.  Can you tell that there are 14 different papers, 10 inks and 3 stamp sets used?  I hand cut all the buttons and leaves, used my Coluzzle for the button 'mats', and sanded all the edges to smooth them out nicely.  And my little polka dot background is supposed to be the April showers (get it?) coming down on my May flowers.  We would love to have you join us by playing along this week - just link up your project on the Heart2Heart blog (remember that your project should use mostly CTMH products - just list what else you've used).  We have two new sponsors for April: LeAnne Dudley and Michelle Zimmerman who are providing wonderful prizes that will be given to two randomly chosen players at the end of the month.  Come and see what the rest of the design team has come up with this week!
Finished size is 4"x9".  All products are CTMH: stamp sets are Buttoned Together, Grown with Love and Argyle Backgrounds; Olivia patterned paper; Cardstock is Sky, Pacifica, White Daisy, Cotton Candy, Hollyhock, Amethyst, Gypsy, Pear, Lagoon, Creme Brulee, Sorbet, Tulip & Vineyard Berry.  Inks are Sky, Cotton Candy, Gypsy, Pacifica, Lagoon, Sorbet, Creme Brulee, Tulip, Pear & Black.  Embroidery floss, Bamboo brad.  Flower stems are machine stitched.
