Stayin' Afloat

Today is my day to post on the Art Impressions blog... so I am enjoying the last gasp of summer with a Girlfriends card using the Stayin' Afloat Set (Sku#4329):
I went with some fairly 'quiet' striped paper as my background, so I kept the ladies' in fairly sedate colours as well.  I added a little strip of yellow ricrac along the bottom, and used a few die cuts to simulate the sky.  I pop dotted the die cuts at a few different heights for a little extra dimension:

Here is the inside message:

And the Copics I used:

Happy stamping everyone!

Properly Caffeinated

It's my Tuesday post on the Art Impressions blog today!
I have a monochromatic card for you, featuring the exuberant Millie (Sku#M1932).  When I use Millie on a card, I love to pair her up with the fun sentiment: Caffeinated (Sku#G4144).  I have more than a few girlfriends for whom this card would be perfect!
I've used a chevron striped ribbon, paper flower and a few navy rhinestones, along with a punched border.  I double matted Millie, and have popped her up on pop dots.
Happy stamping everyone!

For the Dogs (& Cats!) Challenge

The current Art Impressions challenge is to use either a dog or cat stamp on your card!  I have one of the fun Shake Your Booty stamp sets for my card - the To The End set (sku#4243):
The best part about Shake Your Booty sets, are that they have an outside, and an inside stamp, so that it looks like my little puppy is jumping right through my card.  Here's the inside:

The sentiment is "Friends to the END!"
We would love to have you join our challenge over on the Ai blog, you don't have to use Ai stamps to participate... just include a dog or cat and you may win a prize.  Head on over to see what the rest of the design team has come up with.

Card and Tealight Set

It's my posting day over on the Art Impressions blog!
I have a girlie birthday card and matching tealight cake to share with you today, using the fun Out to Lunch (sku#UM3576) set.
These have been a huge hit with my daughter's friends whenever I've made a little tealight cake to match their card.  Perfect for when you need a little extra somethin' with your gift.  I designed my card first, piecing together strips of patterned paper, and zigzag or straight stitching them over the seams with my sewing machine.  I pop dotted my matted image, and glued a strip of rosette ribbon along the bottom:

I purchased a bulk pack of the plastic tealights, and assembled my pieces using scrap bits from my card:

There is a tiny on/off switch on the bottom of the tealight, so before I attached it to my cake base, I cut a tiny hole so that I can access the switch:

I cut a small hole in the center of the cake top, just large enough to fit over the flame:

Lastly I glued on four little ribbon flowers.  Here is a photo with the little flame switched on:

My inside sentiment:

Happy Stamping!

Fashionistas!

It's my Tuesday post on the Art Impressions blog, today, so I am here with a fabulous Girlfriends card to share using the Uptown Girls set (sku#4129):
I let the paper dictate my colouring choices for this one.  That is usually the way I approach my cards, I'll stamp the image, choose my papers and then match up my Copics to them, keeping the papers close at hand while I colour:

I used my Spellbinders Label 4 die with a sliver of cardstock to create my little shaped tab:

I also love "colouring outside the lines" so to speak... I like to cut out my image, leaving a hand or a foot hanging outside the rectangle, where I hand cut around it:

Copics I used:
That's it for today! Happy Stamping!

Patterned papers are Baby Boy, Bella Blvd; Cardstock is Slate, CTMH; Stamp Set is Uptown Girls Set (sku#4129), Art Impressions; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Baker's Twine, The Twinery; Spellbinders labels 4 die.

Freshly Made Sketches #97

Be Merry!  I have a Christmas card to share with you today, using my favourite stamp set from the new Close To My Heart Fall/Winter catalogue - the Framework Alphabet!  It's not usually the case that a font is my favourite new stamp set, but I love everything about this one, and it has such a current, fresh look to it.  I pulled out a holiday paper pack from a few years ago, and paper pieced Merry, then coloured 'be' in with Copic markers.  I've used the interesting sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week:
You can't see the glitter snowflake very well, but I layered a larger white cardstock snowflake over a smaller one that I'd cut out of silver glitter paper.  Just enough glitter to add a bit of sparkle.

Patterned papers are Believe; Cardstock is Black and White Daisy; Stamp set is Framework Alphabet; Glitter paper - all Close To My Heart; Let it Snowflake die, MFT; Martha Stewart snowflake punch.  Copic Markers

Simply Sentiments Art Impressions Challenge

We're into week 2 with our Simply Sentiments challenge on the Art Impressions blog.  We want to see your creations that have only a sentiment (no other stamped images!).  I went with one of the Say It Loud sets, called Sing Dance Set (sku#4227):
I stamped the sentiment in Navy ink, coloured it with Copic markers and trimmed close around the image.  Then I adhered it onto a subtle polkadot paper with pop dots for a little dimension.  For cards like this one, that aren't overly feminine, I often like to tie a knot in the ribbon instead of a bow that might overpower things a little, so that's what I did today.  I stitched around both rectangular panels before gluing them down.  Be sure to link up your Simply Sentiment creation over on the Art Impressions blog - there are always great prizes to be won!

Patterned papers are Clare; Cardstock is Outdoor Denim; Navy Chevron ribbon - all Close To My Heart; Stamp set is Sing Dance Set, Art Impressions; Copic Markers.
