Funky Valentine

Yes, this is my version of a funky valentine.  I've been quiet on my blog - I've been busy trying to work ahead on my commitments, so I took time out tonight to start making valentines for my family.  I loved the inspiration photo at the Fusion Challenge, so I used both it and their sketch to come up with a valentine for my son.  This was fairly quickly coloured - so excuse the less than stellar colouring job, but my 19yr old son is not going to notice how well blended my shades of red are (smile).  I love how this turned out - especially the non typical valentine colour combo:
Patterned papers are Head Over Heels collection, Bo Bunny; Stamp set is Wings of Love, Verve; Pennant banner die, Verve; Copic Markers; Cardstock is Ruby, White Daisy, Pear & Black, CTMH.

You don't have to use Art Impressions stamps to participate in the challenge, however the design team came up with a list of over 20 Ai stamps that would work - so dig into your stash and see what you can come up with!  Be creative!  There are always wonderful prizes to be won, so we hope you'll play along.

Freshly Made Sketches #168

A very quick card today (yay!) - mainly due to the fact that I had coloured this image up several months ago, and just never got it made up into a Christmas card.  So when I saw the current Freshly Made Sketch, I knew I'd probably have something ready to go that would work.  Since I coloured it up with these papers in mind, all I had to do was grab them, add a little die cut, and we're done.  I love this layout, either straight up like the sketch, or tipped over like I've done - so I'll probably pull it out in the future:
Patterned papers are Merry & Bright, Carta Bella; Stamp is Jolly Snowman Set (Sku#4315), Art Impressions; Ink is Tuxedo Black, Memento; Copic Markers; Joy Script Die, Memory Box.

Christmas cards for The Challenge

I've made two really simple Christmas cards tonight... with NO stamping!  This isn't the norm for me, but I have so many lovely paper packs that come with sheets of stickers, or preprinted sentiments, that I want to make an attempt to use them on either tags or cards.  I was very thankful this year, to have a huge stash of cards already made by the time the busy fall season started, so I'm keeping up my efforts in regards to Christmas cards.  Lesley's current colour combo for The Challenge worked perfectly with these holiday papers, and I've loosely followed the sketch as well:

Patterned papers and stickers are Very Merry Christmas, Echo Park; Twine is American Crafts; Enamel dots are Your Next Embellie.

Owl & Monkey Minis!

Hello Ai fans!
I'm in love.  Yep, I'm completely smitten with the Ai Mini Front & Back dies from Art Impressions....  You've seen us using the stamps on the Ai blog since they debuted last spring, but it wasn't until recently, that I got my hands on the matching DIES.  And oh my goodness, these are the cutest little things - they cut like a dream, and are hands down the easiest dies that I've ever used.  (I'm going to gush about the dies a little longer, so bear with me and scroll down to see my cards!).  Here is how the Owl & Monkey Mini Dies (Sku#4538) come in the package:
You get both the front and back dies that match with the Owl & Monkey Mini Set (Sku#4405)

After stamping and colouring your images, just center the die over the image and secure with a piece of washi tape or other removable adhesive, and run it through your die cut machine.  See how easy it is to position them??

And here's the result... the cutest little owls & monkeys you'll ever see.

With a lot of dies, I find that there's a bit of guesswork involved as far as positioning goes - but not with these ones - it couldn't be easier to get it perfect every time.  Okay, time for some artwork!  My photos are a bit on the light side - this actually looks more like a navy night sky with a yellow moon behind him:

And now for the little monkey:
All eight of the Mini Front & Back sets have matching dies - and all are available through the Art Impressions website here!  You'll want to start your collection asap (if you haven't already!).  Happy stamping everyone!

Three challenges

I'm pleased to have my first Christmas card of 2015 in my stash!  And I was able to combine three different challenges, as well.  I've used the sketch from Retro Sketches, the theme at Heart2Heart is Old/New (last year's Frosted stamp set, with this year's Snowhaven papers) and I am entering this at Merry Monday, where the challenge is to use a snowflake on your card.

Birthday Love!

Hello everyone, It's my day to post on the One Crazy Stamper blog! I have a fun birthday card to share today, using Art Impressions Birthday Love Set (Sku#4529).  I thought her energetic pose deserved a bright & busy layout, so here's what I came up with:

Don't forget that we have a brand new challenge on the OCS blog for January - the theme is blue, white & an embellishment.  Any products are welcome (but no digi stamps, please!) so be sure to link up your creations, there is a wonderful High Hopes prize pack up for grabs.

What's New? Challenge

The Art Impressions Design Team is back today with our first challenge of 2015!  It's called "What's New?"  It's a New Year, so we want to see you using something that's new... a new stamp that you've never used, maybe a new technique?  I'm using three new products on my card today - this cute little Zoo Baby elephant in the Dream Big Set (Sku#4533), some new Teresa Collins papers (I bought these before I even owned the Dream Big set, but knew that I'd be getting it soon...) and I broke open a brand new package of sequins that I've had for a few months but never used:
This is the version that I ended up with... but I initially made him up without the sequins (I think that I might be embellishment challenged - I hummed and hawwed over the sequins for a good 10 minutes!)  I actually like both versions, but would like to know what you think?
The designers are all sharing our New Year's Crafting Resolutions today, too -  this year I really would like to develop my watercolouring skills more.  I received a set of brushes and a lovely set of watercolour pencils for Christmas that I hope to put to good use shortly.  I love my Tombow markers too, so will continue to play and learn with them as well.  An ongoing resolution of mine is to continue learning and trying new things with my Copic markers.  What are your crafting resolutions?  We would love to hear them, and see what new creations you come up with - you can link them up on the Art Impressions blog, here.
Copics used - Greys: W7, W5, W3, W1, W00
Pinks - R37, R35, R32, R30

One Crazy Stamper January Challenge

Happy New Year!  Things have been quiet on my blog for the last few weeks... I've been celebrating the holidays with my family, and working on a bunch of CHA cards in every spare minute!  But I'm back in gear, and am looking forward to creating and posting cards in 2015.  The One Crazy Stamper Design Team is kicking off the new year with our January Challenge, which is "Blue & White and an embellishment!"  I am a big fan of the Art Impressions Zoo Babies, so I'm featuring Bananas Set (Sku#4531) today - and in sticking with our Blue & White theme, I've coloured my little monkey to match.  I was initially going for a softer, baby blue look - but he needed to be bolder to work with my papers (seriously bolder!):
I popped up the monkey using pop dots, and instead of just adhering him onto the polka dot paper, I cut a slightly larger circle out of it for a bit of a negative die cut effect:

We would love to have you join us in our January challenge on the OCS blog - there is a wonderful High Hopes Stamps prize to be won!  You'll want to check out what the rest of the design team has to share this month as well.
